Critical Care Unit

Compassionate care when you need it most

When your life is on the line, due to illness or injury, you need the help of a skilled critical care unit. It's here that you'll receive the around-the-clock critical care that can help you to regain your strength, so you can head home feeling recharged and healthy.

At St. Anthony Hospital, we can provide you with skilled treatment from a trained team that's ready and willing to work with you.

Our critical care services

The St. Anthony Hospital critical care unit, also known as the CCU, is designed for people facing serious medical issues, such as:

  • Heart attacks
  • Severe allergic reactions
  • Severe respiratory problems
  • Strokes
  • Traumatic injuries

A CCU is also the place people come after major surgery for additional support and monitoring as their bodies heal.

In our CCU, we have trained and skilled CCU nurses, who are assigned to just a few patients during their shifts. That means they're available to provide you with intensive care. They'll assess your pain, monitor your symptoms and stay with you to ensure that you're recovering properly.

Our CCU nurses work under the direction of our physicians. Your doctor will also monitor your health as you recover in the CCU, and your doctor will provide your nurse with detailed instructions about the treatments you should receive each day.

More than critical care

Being admitted to the CCU can be a little frightening, both for the patient and for that person's family. Our CCU staff understands that emotions run high during this time, and we work hard to make sure you feel safe and comfortable. We'll explain your care plan in detail, and we'll answer any questions you have about your treatments. We're also here to listen and support you as you recover.
